Ultra Beast Drop Event (Beginner)
Battle Task
Mission | Reward |
---|---|
Knock Out your opponent's Active Pokémon 1 time with an attack from a Darkness-type Pokémon | ![]() |
Put 3 Basic Pokémon into play | ![]() |
Win this battle by turn 14 | ![]() |
How to Beat it
If you're aiming to clear the mission "Knock Out your opponent’s Active Pokémon 1 time with an attack from a Darkness-type Pokémon," this is one of the best non-EX free-to-play decks to run.
You’ll mostly rely on Weezing for consistent Poison damage while rotating with Arbok to apply pressure or finish off targets. If you have Nihilego, it’s a great addition—synergizing with Weezing by increasing Poison damage and even acting as a solid standalone attacker if it starts active. If not, you can safely swap it out for an extra copy of Cyrus or another utility Trainer.
Darkrai EX is also a valid upgrade if you want to speed things up a bit, though it’s not essential.
Your ideal opener is Koffing, which evolves into Weezing to start spreading Poison early. Arbok helps scale your damage when needed, especially when you’re pushing for knockouts. Make sure to rotate at least 3 Pokémon throughout the match—it doesn’t matter if they’re evolved, they still count toward the "Put 3 Basic Pokémon into play" mission.
While this deck plays at a slower pace, aiming for a win around Turn 14 is totally viable with smart sequencing and steady damage over time.
Ultra Beast Drop Event (Intermediate)
Battle Task
Mission | Reward |
---|---|
Knock Out your opponent's Active Pokémon 2 times with an attack from a Darkness-type Pokémon | ![]() |
Make your opponent's Pokémon Poisoned 1 time | ![]() |
Win this battle by turn 14 | ![]() |
How to Beat it
We’ll be using the same deck as above, so check that section if you need a refresher on how it works.
This time, the mission requires you to win 2 times with an attack from a Darkness-type Pokémon and Make your opponent's Pokémon Poisoned 1 time. Both goals are easily handled by Weezing and Nihilego. Weezing and Nihilego provides steady Poison damage for knockouts
The opponent’s deck is slightly more cohesive here with cards like Shiinotic and Celesteela, but nothing this deck can’t deal with. Just keep in mind that Arbok’s effect doesn’t work on Celesteela—since Celesteela switches out through its Ability, it doesn’t count as the opponent retreating.
Ultra Beast Drop Event (Advanced)
Battle Task
Mission | Reward |
---|---|
Knock Out your opponent's Active Pokémon 2 times with an attack from a Darkness-type Pokémon | ![]() |
Win this battle using a deck where all the Pokémon cards are of ♦, ♦♦, and/or ♦♦♦ rarity | ![]() |
Win this battle by turn 14 | ![]() |
Win this battle without your opponent getting any points | ![]() |
How to Beat it
We’ll be using the same Darkness deck again for this mission, so check the earlier sections if you need a breakdown of how it plays.
A new mission is added: Win using only Pokémon of ♦, ♦♦, or ♦♦♦ rarity. Fortunately, the core deck already fits this requirement—but if you’ve added Darkrai EX, you’ll need to remove it to stay eligible.
Another mission is tougher: Win without letting your opponent score any points. This one’s more difficult since the opponent’s deck is bulkier, and Celesteela can pivot out to avoid knockouts. If you're struggling with this condition, consider switching to a high-HP EX deck like Charizard.
With the Charizard build, the goal is to evolve Charmander quickly—either manually through Charmeleon or by using Rare Candy. From there, use Stoke to load up 3 Energy, then follow up with Steam Artillery to deal 150 damage and cleanly knock out the opponent’s Active Pokémon. Lillie also helps you stay alive.
Ultra Beast Drop Event (Expert)

Mission | Reward |
---|---|
Win this battle using a Deck where all the Pokémon cards are of ♦, ♦♦, and/or ♦♦♦ rarity | ![]() |
Win this battle by turn 12 | ![]() |
Win this battle without your opponent getting any points | ![]() |
Win 10 or more battles | ![]() |
Win 20 or more battles | ![]() |
How to Beat it
You can still use the same Darkness deck from earlier, but if the challenge feels too tough, I recommend switching to a stronger non-EX option like the new Silvally Rampardos or another Rampardos variant. There’s a full guide available if you want to learn more—this is what I used myself, so I can vouch for how effective it is.
If you’re running into the same issue of needing to win without your opponent getting any points, and it’s proving difficult, the Charizard deck remains your best bet. It’s fast, hits hard, and can one-shot most of the opponent’s Pokémon. Plus, it speeds up progress toward the win 10 or 20 battles missions significantly.
Good luck—and go secure that Ultra Necrozma EX!
