How to Play Garchomp Rampardos Sylveon ex
The addition of A3b-034 adds draw to the burst deck from before but we are still only running Fighting energy. The main goal is to evolve A2a-047 as early as possible to start using Linear Attack, dealing 50 damage anywhere on the board. A2-089 serves as the high-damage finisher, cleaning up heavily damaged or key threats with 130 damage.
Turn 1 Breakdown
If starting with A2a-045:
Prioritize evolving into A2a-047 to unlock Linear Attack and deal 50 damage anywhere on the board. Hitting once on an opposing Eevee can make it vulnerable to A2-089 range if it ever evolves into A3b-034.
If starting with A3b-055:
Put one energy to use Collect and still have enough energy to retreat. Skip Collect only if A3b-055 is about to get knocked out and you need to rush Dragon Claw.
Early Game
- Prioritize evolving into A2a-047 as fast as you can. Put energy on A2a-045 or A2a-047 so it can use Linear Attack right away and Dragon Claw.
- Try to evolve into A3b-034 as fast as possible to unlock more chances of drawing cards such as PROMO-007. Play A3b-034 first to see more options before doing anything.
- Evolve into A2-089 as much as you can.
- Bench your Pokémon early, especially if you have a larger hand, since the deck is vulnerable to hand disruption such as PROMO-006, A2b-069, and A2-155.
- Play PROMO-007 first before PROMO-005 if you're trying to find more basics such as A3b-055.
- Play PROMO-005 before using PROMO-007 to thin your deck more and find cards like A3-144 much faster. Same as PROMO-005 first before evolving into A3b-034.
- Prioritize evolving the Stage 1 if you're still missing the Stage 2 to reduce your hand size and not rely only on A3-144.
- Plan damage with Linear Attack to line up where all the damage will go so no damage is wasted. If the active Pokémon is below 100 HP, target the bench instead so Dragon Claw can finish the active later.
- One of the key decision points is what your four Pokémon on board will be. Managing your four Pokémon is something to consider since you will usually have A3b-034, A2a-047, and A2-089 by default. The fourth is usually another A2a-047 due to how you’ll mostly dump your hand to protect against hand disruption. But if you can get away with taking maximum points using two A2-089, that is also something to consider.
- Use A3-155 to heal key Pokémon, buying an extra turn of attacks or preserving important points.
- As mentioned in my other guides: if you’re planning to reset your hand, it’s often smart to bait a PROMO-006, A2b-069, or A2-155. Keep your hand at four or more if you’re okay with a reset, and below three if you want to avoid one.
Midgame Strategy
- A2a-047 should already have secured points through Linear Attack or Dragon Claw.
- Consider retreating an active A2a-047 into the other to preserve points, especially if you’re relying on Linear Attack.
- Use A2-089 as a finisher if A2a-047 is knocked out or to handle high-HP targets over 130 damage thresholds.
- A2-089 could be your finisher if A2a-047 goes down taking the final point. Retreating A2a-047 into A2-089 can be a move especially if you are facing a 130 HP above Pokémon since A2-089 won’t take recoil damage letting it absorb hits before it can be one-shotted.
Master Tips
- Try attaching only 1 energy to your Active A2a-047 so it can retreat easily if needed, while you power up another A2a-047 on the Bench for stronger attacks later. This way, you’re ready with Dragon Claw when it counts and can avoid giving up easy points.
- If you think your Active A2a-047 won’t last long, consider putting energy on A2-089 or another A2a-047 so you have a backup plan. It also helps against plays like Sabrina that force you to promote an unprepared attacker.
- Rotating between two A2a-047 can keep up damage with Linear Attack while avoiding knockouts. Use A3-155 to heal damage on the Benched one, making it harder for your opponent to secure points.
- Be mindful of A2-150 disrupting your plan. Make sure your Benched Pokémon can handle being forced Active if they’re targeted.
Card Choices
Core
Must-have cards the deck relies on to function.
- A2a-045 – Using TL Gible for added damage against Eevee.
- A2a-046 – Running 1 for slight consistency. Lets you dump your hand.
- A2a-047 – Prioritized early for pressuring with Linear Attack. One-shots active Eevee.
- A2-088 – Running 1 for consistency and dump hand. Can one-shot Eevee as well.
- A2-089 – Mostly used for immediate 130 damage or to tank without recoil damage.
- A3b-055 – Put energy to use Collect and to retreat later if you start with it.
- A3b-034 – Evolve first to see options before anything. Accelerates gameplan by finding PROMO-007 faster.
- A2-144 – Setup piece for A2-089. Plan to evolve immediately to avoid being sniped.
- A3-144 – Core to the deck to evolve fast and apply pressure right away.
- PROMO-005 – Can be cut by 1 if not running A2-146, freeing space for more Supporters.
- PROMO-007 – Increases consistency of the deck for card draw.
Optional
Cards that can be cut without hurting core consistency.
- A2-146 – Smooths evolution lines if A3-144 isn’t available. Can also search A3b-034 for even more consistency.
- A3-155 – Keeps A2a-047 alive, buying a turn. Running 2 lets you retreat and heal it back to full.
Situational
Techs that only matter in specific matchups.
- A2-150 – Useful in EX matchups or tough matchups since you control when to bring targets Active.
- A2b-069 – Useful for resetting a bad start. Increases chances of going straight into your gameplan.
- A2-155 – Since A2a-047 is EX, losing it early can let A2-155 blow out your opponent’s hand.
Final Thoughts
A2a-047 A2-089 A3b-034 is a strong pick for early pressure and consistent setup. A3b-034 ensures fast A3-144 plays, letting A2a-047 spread damage and A2-089 finish key targets. Great for punishing slow decks in Eevee Grove.
