Introduction
Be warned: our Celebi ex deck guide features the most broken card in the Mythical Island expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket. Many variants of a1a-3-celebi-ex decks has quickly become one of the most powerful archetypes in the game right now.
The a1a-3-celebi-ex deck has quickly rise in popularity within the Pokemon TCG Pocket community becoming one of the most powerful archetypes in the game. The a1a-85-celebi-ex card boasts 130 HP and a low Retreat Cost of one, making it both decently durable and easy to maneuver. Its Powerful Bloom attacking skill flips a coin for each Grass Energy attached and dealing 50 damage per heads. This attack scales exponentially as more Energy is added, allowing a1a-85-celebi-ex to potentially one-shot even the strongest Pokémon in the game, such as a1-129-mewtwoex and a1-280-charizardex.

Flexible Swaps
These are some Pokémon recommendations to include in your a1a-85-celebi-ex decks if you're missing out of them in your collection. Simply swap out cards like a1a-32-mew-ex or a1a-9-dhelmise from our deck lists above with the following:
- a1a-70-serperior is a stage-2 Pokémon. Finding those evolution cards in time is important and a1-5-caterpie can help you thin your deck to reach your win-con
- This card is best to be used early in your game to maximize the benefit from its Find a Friend skill
- a1a-32-mew-ex is just here as a secondary attacking option if you fail to find your a1a-85-celebi-ex
- Playing a deck with 4 basic Pokémon can sometimes be disastrous (if you plan on NOT playing Dhelmise). Thus, a1a-32-mew-ex can come in handy in certain match-ups

The key to unlocking a1a-3-celebi-ex’s full potential lies in its synergy with a1a-6-serperior. Superior, a Stage 2 Pokémon, features the Jungle Totem passive ability, which doubles the value of each Grass Energy attached to Grass Pokémon. For example, three Energy effectively count as six, five count as ten, and so on. This ability allows a1a-3-celebi-ex to ramp up its damage at an incredible pace, flipping more coins and maximizing its damage done to KO your opponent's Pokémon. If you manage to get these two card combo on the board early, you usually can win games on the spot.
Let's break down the strategy in a simpler way:
- The deck's strategy focuses on evolving into Superior as quickly as possible
- The early game involves setting up Superior while using a1a-9-dhelmise to stall or chip away at the opponent
- By mid-game, with Jungle Totem active, a1a-9-dhelmise will begin to hit harder while you find and setup your a1a-3-celebi-ex
- Playing a Grass-type Pokémon gives you the opportunity to play a1-219-erika to ensure your a1a-9-dhelmise and/or a1a-85-celebi-ex stays in the game longer
- If you manage to enter into the end-game phase, you usually will end up overwhelming your opponents with a big Powerful Bloom attack
Closing
I am saying this now: decks featuring a1a-85-celebi-ex and a1a-70-serperior will be winning tournaments in weeks to come until the next expansion drops in 2025. This deck feels very broken from the get-go as players are still trying to find counter measures to tame this deck. At the moment, Blaine Aggro decks seems to be a good counter but, Blaine decks doesn't win you tournaments as it suffers against other META decks.
