Raichu Magneton Deck Guide

Raichu and Magneton Deck Guide! Magneton stores up Lightning Energy before Raichu deletes the opposing Pokémon with the help of Lt. Surge!

Introduction

Welcome to my Raichu Magneton Deck Guide! I was seriously considering naming this write-up as "Lt. Surge Deck Guide" but after looking into the main star of this deck: a1-95-raichu, it's only right to name this deck in honor of this Pokémon.

This deck archetype has a very straightforward strategy, have a1-98-magneton use the ability Volt Charge before passing all accumulated Lightning-energy to a1-95-raichu with the help of a1-273-lt-surge.

This is a decent deck to rent if you're looking into spending some Pack Points to buy a1-95-raichu. Since this is a free tutorial deck that is aimed to teach new players about the different Pokémon abilities out there, it is to no surprise that the deck is rather janky and a little clunky at times.

This is a direct upgrade from the rental deck available in-game. The idea is to leverage on a1-99-voltorb and a1-100-electrode in the early game while you get your a1-98-magneton to us its ability. a1-98-magneton’s Volt Charge ability allows it to passively accumulate energy on the bench, while a1-273-lt-surge enables efficient energy transfer from a1-98-magneton to a1-95-raichu, creating an effective backup when a1-100-electrode is knocked out.

This deck doesn’t rely on any EX Pokémon, making it accessible for free-to-play players and highly strategic compared to the "expensive" version below. This approach allows the deck to pressure opponents early with a1-99-voltorb, and a1-100-electrode, keeping options open for a late-game a1-95-raichu surprise attack.

The inclusion of a1-281-pikachuex offers an option to aggro down your opponent with consistent 90 damage attacks each turn. When your a1-281-pikachuex gets heavily damaged, it can retreat to the benched area and let a1-95-raichu take over the Active Spot. After that, a1-273-lt-surge can pass those Lightning-energy from a1-281-pikachuex to the now Active a1-95-raichu.

Raichu Magneton Deck Tips

  • Don't start the game with a1-97-magnemite at the front. You would want to play a1-97-magnemite or a1-281-pikachuex earlier on.
  • a1-95-raichu's 140 damage can one-shot most of the non-EX Pokémon out there. It can also acts as a finisher after a1-100-electrode or a1-281-pikachuex has done the early heavy lifting.
  • All you need are 2 Lightning-energy from a benched a1-98-magneton, then attach 1 Lightning Energy to a1-95-raichu and use a1-273-lt-surge to power it up during your turn before attacking.

Deck Weaknesses

Looking into the current META and also information from various  Pokemon TCG Pocket Tournaments, it's quite clear people are beginning to use Fighting-type Pokémon to crumble any Lightning-type decks at the moment. Fighting-type decks commonly used are:

Marowak EX Decks
Machamp EX Decks

Closing

Thank you for reading my Raichu Magneton Deck Guide for Pokémon TCG Pocket! It's a rather short write-up since the deck plays out in a straightforward manner. Get your a1-98-magneton online, use a1-273-lt-surge and let a1-95-raichu deal 140 burst damage! If you're using a1-281-pikachuex or a1-100-electrode, retreat to safety when heavily damaged and use a1-100-electrode to take those Lightning-energy from the bench to charged up a1-95-raichu.

One of the deck’s strengths is its flexibility with a1-95-raichu and a1-281-pikachuex or a1-100-electrode. Some players prefer using two a1-100-electrode evolving lines to increase synergy between a1-95-raichu and also a1-273-lt-surge. Others find that an adding a1-281-pikachuex while cutting one a1-98-magneton maintains aggressive pressure and allows for quicker attacks. Regardless of the variation, the a1-95-raichu and a1-98-magneton combination works effectively against both EX and non-EX decks. As a result, this deck is appealing to players looking for a powerful yet budget-friendly option, as it mostly requires cards from Pikachu packs and readily available promos, making it easy to assemble without extensive pack ripping.
