Magma $51 (339 players)

We will start off with the second from last week A4-083 A3b-034, now claiming the top spot overtaking A2-110 A2b-035. A3a-006 still remained third this week. A3a-043 A3a-045 followed as usual, but there is one huge change that actually happened.

Most of the lists that followed are usually combinations of A4-066, A3-066, A3a-061, A2a-071, and A2-110, all with different mixes.

A3b-009 A3b-056 also secured the 6th spot, while an A2a-071 A2a-050 variant followed. The only different list this week was A4-134 A4-109, appearing in about the same numbers as last week. Meanwhile, A2a-010 A3b-009 dropped to just 8 lists from 17.

  • Champion – A2b-010 Sylveon took the tournament which is very impressive considering the low appearance. It also fought 3 hybrid A3-066 decks and only lost to 1
  • 2nd Place – A3a-006 A3a-007 got 2nd and it fought 4 A2-110 A2b-035 which it all won. It lost to the 3rd place A2a-071 A4-066 on day 1 and an A4-083 Sylveon which was its counter.
  • 3rd Place – A2a-071 A4-066 was 3rd fighting mostly A3-066 hybrids as well and lost to a A2-110 A2b-035 on the 4th round and the champion..
  • 4th Place – 4th place was A2-110 A3a-061 which also features a single A3-066. It notably won 1 out of 3 A3a-006 and 2 out of 3 A4-083 Sylveon.

Charizard ex Sylveon ex – 1st Place

A2b-010 A3b-034 got first place, making it an impressive win considering it is leaning towards low representation. Winning against some A3-066 decks is impressive, making us remember that a fast A2b-010 just wins games whatever the matchup. It runs the usual list as it is really optimized by now with just 1 of each A1-033. The 30 damage A1-033 might actually be better now with the prevalence of baby Pokemon, making sure you one shot them. This might be the right call for now, probably even 2-of and ditching the Combustion since it isn't as useful anyway and you can always use Stoke to gain energy after using Ember to still use Steam Artillery the next turn.

Buzzwole Pheromosa - 2nd Place

A3a-006 got 2nd place. It features the standard A3a-007 double A2-150 list, but the main changes here are it's running A3-151 mainly to remove A2-148 or A2-147. Double A3-147, which is still interesting considering the recent changes now focus on A2-148. It also runs A3a-064, so it's looking to do A3a-069 + A3a-064 enabling surprise knockouts. Quite a solid list overall, making it 2nd place.

Arceus ex Pichu – 3rd Place

A2a-071 A4-066 took home third place, which was one of the decks that I was highly enthusiastic about from last week. The main change here is double A4-066 seems to be the normal, which I guess we just want to dilute A2a-071. Other than that, pretty much the same list which I made a guide for, cutting 1 A1-223 for A4-066.

Silvally Dakrai ex - 4th place

A3a-061 A2-110 took home 4th place, marking an impressive result for the deck. It has been under the radar for quite a while now and it's looking to be solid. I recently made a guide for the deck too, which you can check out here. The main difference is it's running A3-151 instead of A1a-068, which might be better for tournament play since it counters A2-148 from A2-110 A2b-035 for sure.

Best Decks for Ranked

There has definitely been a major shift from last week seeing the tournament results. It looks like the A3a-061, A3-066, A4-066, A2a-071, A2-110 shell is taking over with different mixes, but one inclusion for all and that is A3-066. A3-066 remains a strong counter in a field with EXs. The other common pattern are EX decks that can fight A3-066, which we will tackle in the lists.

Espeon ex Sylveon ex

The most played deck of the event at 43 players, converting 11 into cut (25.58%). While down from last week's dominant 59%, it still shows the deck's staying power at the very top of the meta. The list has been pretty standard now, with both the 5th place and 6th place running both the A3b-033 and A3b-028. While the number of A4-134 is still debatable, both of the lists feature Mars, so we might shift into that for now.

Darkrai ex Giratina ex

With 37 pilots and 11 cutting (29.73%), A2b-035 A2-110 remains a consistent force. Even with a slight dip from last week's 45% rate, it continues to deliver results at scale and proves it can handle a large, diverse field. There is not much innovation from the list before, but one major change that is happening is cutting A4-158 altogether and running double A1a-068 instead. This is probably due to the rising number of A3-066 and wanting to navigate the matchup more easily without the loss of energy.

Buzzwole ex Pheromosa

While it was still featured last week, A3a-006 even jumped this week even with the rise of A4-083 A3b-034. It is merely trying to dodge and catch some matchups at this point. If you suspect you won't fight A4-083 A3b-034 too much in the ladder and are expecting more A2-110 A2b-035, this is definitely one of the decks to use.

If you want a refresher on how this deck works, you can check out the guide here.

Arceus ex Pichu

Featuring a 29% conversion rate, A2a-071 A4-066 is definitely out of the bag and it's already seeing a lot of play on ladder. I made a guide for the deck last week, so check that out to explicitly see what the commotion is all about.

Silvally Arceus ex

The difference between this one and the A2a-071 A4-066 from above is it focuses on just A3a-061 more and only runs 1 A3-066 and 1 A2a-071, which is still a smart division since you want A3a-061 more. Only 8 players showed up, but 3 made cut (37.50%), making it one of the best decks from this week's tournament.

The guide I made may also still apply, but just focusing on A3a-061 instead of A2a-071.

Charizard ex Sylveon ex

With a 40% conversion rate and a tournament win, A2b-010 A3b-034 is definitely one of the best decks that people are playing less. While there are still an astounding amount of A3-066 in the field, some are just running 1 so that A3b-009 can still do its job or just the insane speed of getting A2b-010 in the field. Read about how the deck plays here.

Darkrai ex Silvally

I recently made a dual version guide of the deck just recently, one with the focus on A3-066 only and the other is A2-110. The A2-110 version was slightly more successful this time with 2 out of 8 conversion. Check out the guide to learn more about the deck.

Arceus ex Crobat

A2a-071 has definitely been the main carry this season with a lot of decks centering around its 3 energy 140 attack. This version now partners with A2a-050, looking to either start with a A4-107 into A2a-050 or A4-032 start charging an A2a-071 or A4-034. So whatever you start with, you are looking to deal damage right away, especially if you go second from A4-032 to either A2a-071. A lot of damage is being thrown here with A2a-050 in the mix. Definitely worth the contention for best decks of this week.

Final Thoughts

This week reveals a meta dominated by the A3-066 shell - A3a-061, A3-066, A4-066, A2a-071, A2-110 combinations are defining successful archetypes. A3-066 has become the universal EX counter that's reshaping all deck construction.

A2b-010A3b-034's surprise championship shows speed can still overcome counters, while A4-083 A3b-034 remains popular despite declining conversion rates. The format now centers around either using A3-066 or beating it, with A2a-071's versatile 140 damage anchoring multiple strategies. Expect this A3-066-centric meta to continue evolving.
