Expert Solo Battle Guide – Triumphant Light

Expert Mode

This is the expert section of the Triumphant Light update. I highly recommend reading this Solo Battles Guide Best Decks too since I will be referencing most of the decks from there. The link is also better if you're just looking for help on the advanced section or just a general guide for beating the solo battles in other expansions as well in this Triumphant Light update.

A2a-010 and A2-007 can pose a serious threat if you aren't prepared for them. A2-007 deals a massive 120 damage, which can KO most Pokémon, and it can also be charged quickly by A2a-010. However, the downside is that A2a-010 must be in the Active Spot for this strategy to work.

One key strategy is to take down their prerequisite A1-206 and A2-006 as quickly as possible or survive a hit from A2-007, since A2a-010 only deals 70 damage.

The best non-EX deck I recommend is the A1a-050 A1a-055 deck, as A1a-055 can survive a hit from A2-007 or A1a-050 with a A2-147. A1a-055 also has enough speed to take down A2a-010 or A2-007. Since it runs Dark Energy, you can also complete two missions at once.

If you're still having trouble, the A2-053 A1-089 list I featured is also incredibly strong, as A2-007 has a Lightning weakness.

And as always, you can easily complete other missions just by using a A1-036 deck.

The real challenge in this matchup is defeating this deck with a Grass-type deck. A2-027 or A2-028 can easily one-shot most Grass-type Basic Pokémon, while A2a-013 can already deal 100 damage for just two Energy. Because of this, I highly recommend using A2-147 to help Grass Pokémon survive.

I will be featuring the A1-023 deck here since it is tanky enough to survive an attack from A2a-013. With A2-147, it can also withstand a hit from A2-029. A1-004 is another viable option since it can also survive an attack from A2-029, but you might struggle if you don’t find A1-004 early. I would recommend brute-forcing with A1-023 since lucky coin flips can be enough to close out the game quickly.

After finishing the Grass-type deck challenge, you can switch to any deck, such as the A1-036 deck, to complete the other missions more easily.

This is one of the most difficult missions simply because of the "win without Trainers" task. Success will mostly come down to luck in drawing the right card from a deck filled with 20 Pokémon. One way to mitigate this is to run several Stage Pokémon, but I thought—why not use a deck that actually benefits from a high number of Pokémon, like A1-096?

It's also really strong against A2-049 and A2-050 because they are Water-type. I highly recommend retrying until you draw either A1-096 or A1-104 at the start, as both can win games on their own. You can literally put any Electric Pokemon besides A1-096 and A1-104 since that's the only cards you want to draw.

After completing the "no Trainer" mission, the next task to focus on is winning with only Fire-types. This can easily be achieved with the A1-036 deck, as A1-047 isn’t affected by Water-type attacks. A1-036 can also one-shot A2-049 or A2a-022, making the battle much easier as long as you have this deck.

You can also complete this with A1-038 A1-221, but you may need some luck to set up A1-038 quickly. Otherwise, you might struggle to keep up with A2a-072 and A2-147.

Any mission that requires using Water-type Pokémon is usually easy thanks to A1-220. This allows you to highroll your way to victory effortlessly. The best Water-type deck I recommend is A2-049 A2-050, but you can't go wrong with simply running two A1-084 and all Trainers. A1-076 can also be replaced by any other Water-type, like A1-058.

A2-049 can easily one-shot A2a-071 or A2-061, even if they are using A2-147. It’s not a big deal as long as you can attack twice with A2-049.

For the non-EX mission, I used the A1a-042 A2-092 deck, as it also two-shots A2a-071, while A1a-047 can one-shot A2-061.

This mission can be a bit tricky depending on which Colorless-type cards you have available. I used a A1a-059 deck, which I believe is the best Colorless-type deck for now, along with A1-195. If you have A1-195, especially PROMO-A-022, then you're good to go.

For the non-EX mission, I believe any decent deck can beat it—just be wary of A1-154, so I prefer using an aggressive deck like A1-038 A1-221 or A1a-042 A2-092. Using more A1-225 helps snipe A2-122 or A1a-047.

Okay, I just want to say that this is incredibly frustrating and really relies on luck more than anything. Winning without Trainers is always difficult because you have to rely on drawing specific Pokémon. I used the A1-096 deck from earlier with the same strategy, but you need to get lucky because the opponent deals a lot of damage—A2a-050 even hits from the Bench, and A2-099 does 70 damage per turn with just one Energy.

A2-148 also helps the opponent trigger A2-099. Your best hope is to go second and get good coin flips from A1-104. You could also try an all Fighting-type deck since A2a-050 and A2a-071 are weak to Fighting, but you still need to find the right evolutions in a 20-Pokémon deck, so I stuck with A1-096.

For the Psychic-type mission, it is also incredibly hard because they deal +20 damage. I used a A1-129 deck with high HP Pokémon and hoped to set up the A1-129-A1-132 combo as quickly as possible. Once that’s online, you can one-shot the opponent with A1-129 every turn.

A1a-032 can be replaced with A1-128.

This is one of the easiest missions, considering we're using Water-type Pokémon again—so A1-220, let’s go! I just used the A2-049 A2-050 deck again. A1-076 also helps with the breakpoints since the enemy runs A2-147, and A2a-057 needs two attacks to take down.

As long as you get a good start with A2-050 charging A2-049 or an early A1-076, you can easily win this game.

For the non-EX mission, it's a little harder since the enemies are really tanky, although A1-038 A1-221 works well due to their Fire weakness. I believe any non-EX deck can work as well, especially those with high damage output, like A2-053 A1-089.
