Scolipede Weezing Deck Guide

Heya everyone! The a1a-55-scolipede a1-177-weezing deck has been a popular choice among players in competitive tournaments. This deck uses Poison as part of its game plan, slowly chipping away at the health of the opponent's Pokemon and even using Poison to empower your attacks.

It has no Ex Pokemon, making it a great budget deck to pick up and forcing opponents to knock out 3 of your Pokemon to win the game. The list has multiple new cards from the Mythical Island expansion, specifically a1a-55-scolipede, giving a1-177-weezing a great win condition that takes advantage of its Gas Leak ability.

Since a1a-55-scolipede is a Stage 2 Pokemon, we'll be relying on a1-177-weezing and a1a-60-tauros to tank early hits as we evolve into a1a-55-scolipede. We want to Poison the opponent's Active Pokemon and have a1a-55-scolipede go for high-damage attacks to knock it out potentially.

a1-177-weezing is the premium Pokemon in the early game, having 110 health, he won't get knocked out that easily. Gas Leak ability puts Poison on the opponent's Active Pokemon, slowly dealing 10 damage for as long as that Pokemon stays in the Active spot. Combined with a1-177-weezing's tackle attack, you can threaten to knock out low-health Pokemon and get a Match Point.

As you put early pressure with a1-177-weezing, you're also working on getting a1a-55-scolipede in play as quickly as possible, which will later synergize with a1-177-weezing Gas Leak.

When a1-177-weezing is low on health, you can use a1-222-koga to put him back in your hand, denying your opponent a Match Point. This allows you to move another Pokemon to the Active spot, and in most cases, it'll be a1a-55-scolipede, ready to make use of Gas Leak's Poison.

We want a1a-53-venipede on the Bench as early as possible to start evolving. promo-5-poke-ball is great to help find a1a-53-venipede early in the game and evolve it into a1a-54-whirlipede.

a1a-54-whirlipede's 90 health isn't too bad for the early game, so if we have it in the Active spot, we could make use of Poison Sting to deal 20 damage to the opponent's Active Pokemon and give it Poison. It's important we don't risk a1a-54-whirlipede getting knocked out or we'll slow down our game plan by not getting a1a-55-scolipede in play.

Once we evolve into a1a-55-scolipede, we'll only need 2 Energy to attack with Venoshock, dealing 70 damage to the opponent's Active Pokemon. However, if the opponent's Active Pokemon is Poinsed through a1-177-weezing's Gas Leak or a1a-54-whirlipede's Poison Sting, Venoshock will deal 120 damage instead of 70.

a1a-60-tauros is another early Character to tank hits as you evolve into a1a-55-scolipede. Since a1a-55-scolipede and a1-177-weezing have low-cost attacks, you might find yourself in situations where you can use a1a-60-tauros's Fighting Tackle, dealing 120 damage to an Ex Pokemon.

a1-222-koga is great to put a1-177-weezing in our hand after we've activated Gas Leak. a1-177-weezing has a high retreat cost, so a1-222-koga makes life easier to prevent the opponent from getting a Match Point and creating an opportunity to attack with a1a-55-scolipede while the opponent's Active Pokemon is poisoned.

a1a-55-scolipede and a1a-60-tauros's retreat costs are 2 Energy, so a1a-68-leaf is perfect for dropping them down to 0 and dodge having to discard Energy.

If you don't have a1-222-koga in hand, you can play a1a-68-leaf to retreat a1-177-weezing, dropping its retreat cost to 1 Energy.

a1a-32-mew-ex can be a secondary win condition, perfect when the opponent has a Pokemon in the Active spot with a high-damage attack. Genome Hacking can copy that attack and one-shot their Pokemon.

If you don't have a1a-55-scolipede, you can go with the old a1-165-arbok win condition, locking a Poisoned Pokemon in the Active spot with its Counter attack.

Scolipede Weezing Weakness

  • a1a-55-scolipede being a Stage 2 Pokemon means we might have slow games where we don't find the right pieces to evolve into it as quickly as possible.

Closing Words

The a1a-55-scolipede a1-177-weezing is a popular budget choice in Pokemon Pocket, seeing a lot of representation in Versus mode and tournaments. a1-177-weezing's Gas Leak synergizing with a1a-55-scolipede's Venoshock makes it the perfect deck to play!
