Introduction
Welcome to my Lapras ex Deck Guide! Lapras ex Drop Event has been out for a few days now in Pokémon TCG Pocket and people are using promo-14-lapras-ex in various deck archetypes. Players are trying to figure out which deck gets the most value out of this new promo card while some treats this card as a replacement for a1-84-articuno-ex since most new players don't have a1-84-articuno-ex in their collection yet.
promo-14-lapras-ex Comes with 140 HP and its Bubble Drain attacking move, deals 80 damage and heals for 20 HP. Even though this card has drawn comments that it's similar to a1-84-articuno-ex, we still believe that promo-14-lapras-ex offers some unique versatility. Although its health is not exceptional high, its self-healing ability can dispatch most fast aggro decks that utilizes Pokémon with 90-100 HP and 70-80 attack damage.

promo-14-lapras-ex attack and healing combination provides a unique advantage by delivering damage while also playing defensively - hence, dragging the match even longer. This will then open the opportunity for you to setup your main wincon like a1-244-dragonite, a1-82-omastar, or a1-89-greninja at the benched area.

Lapras ex and Omastar Deck Quick Review
- Guarantees a promo-14-lapras-ex starter - a1-216-helix-fossil doesn't count as a 'Basic' Pokémon.
- Builds up a1-82-omastar on the bench.
- Uses promo-14-lapras-ex as a wall to protect Amastar.
- Leverages a1-82-omastar's abilities to disrupt opponents - After a successful setup.
Lapras ex and Butterfree Deck Quick Review
- Heal your Pokémon while your opponent's Pokémon HP gets depleted bit by bit
- a1-7-butterfree only needs ONE grass-energy for it to get going
- In an ideal situation you'll be healing promo-14-lapras-ex for 60 HP each turn (If you have two a1-7-butterfree ready to use Powder Heal)
- The deck has potential but still gets beaten by heavy hitters that can one-shot your promo-14-lapras-ex
Lapras ex and Dragonite Deck Quick Review
- Combines the defensive capabilities of promo-14-lapras-ex with the offensive power of a1-244-dragonite
- Stall the game long enough with promo-14-lapras-ex while setting up your a1-244-dragonite from the bench slowly.
- Personally, I find the Dragonite-Weezing-Koga combination better. BUT...
- promo-14-lapras-ex can take advantage of a1-220-misty to secure at least a point or two before a1-244-dragonite comes in
Lapras ex and Starmie ex Deck Quick Review
- Since the META is filled with Pikachu EX decks, it was a challenge trying to test this deck against something at the same tier level while playing versus mode
- This deck performs very well when you're able to aggro down your opponent while going second - taking down their Active Spot Pokémon even before the game begins
- a1-57-psyduck feels underwhelming sometimes and very powerful given the right situations - I believe these are the flexible cards in the deck and can be cut out.
- There are better Starmie ex decks out there - promo-14-lapras-ex and a1-76-starmie-ex doesn't feel a good match. One is an aggressive offensive card while the other is a pseudo defensive card.
Lapras ex and Greninja Deck Quick Review
- This deck needs some extra brain power to calculate the possible outcomes 2-3 turns ahead
- Deciding which Pokémon to inflict a1-89-greninja's Water Shuriken wrongly could cost you the match sometimes
- a1-76-starmie-ex and a1-89-greninja combination feels better compared to this deck.
- You really need that a1-220-misty to ensure you have a good start and a1-89-greninja has the time to develop from the bench area.

- promo-14-lapras-ex can be obtained freely - that's a major plus
- a1-84-articuno-ex can provide higher damage value, 80 damage on the Active Pokémon and 10 damage each to all opposing benched Pokémon
- a1-84-articuno-ex has "Ice Wing" that can be activated after getting two energies attached to it - promo-14-lapras-ex has only one attacking skill
- In theory, promo-14-lapras-ex is said to be able to stall games. In practice, the current META utilizes big hitters like a1-36-charizard-ex or a1-129-mewtwo-ex can one-shot promo-14-lapras-ex without even caring about those 20 HP heals
- a1-84-articuno-ex has a lower retreat cost
