Pokémon TCG Pocket is adding Mega Evolution ex cards this fall with Mega Altaria, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Blaziken. They introduce new mechanics: direct evolution, massive HP and power, and KO’ing one yields an instant victory. The shift could significantly shake up gameplay strategy and deckbuilding.
What Makes These Mega Evolutions Unique
- Unlike in the physical TCG, these Mega Evolutions can evolve directly from their earlier stage (e.g., Altaria, Gyarados, Blaziken), without needing an EX predecessor.
- They add a high risk–high reward dynamic — KO’ing an opponent’s Mega Evolution grants the full three points, immediately winning the match.
